The Hawthorn was shown in the USNBE in a rare, first generation Yamaaki.
It was a good pairing, but I had hoped to find a cream colored oval, same size, and showing some age. When Matty O. posted this Suishoen, we were able to work out a swap.
Nearly identical in size and shape, I think the Yamaaki clay quality is slightly better, but the Suishoen shows greater age.
The hawthorn is currently undergoing some structure redesign, and is in a much larger pot to help hasten the process. But in a couple years, it should emerge a better bonsai, and with a ready pot!
