Chojubai

Bought my first two Chojubai quinces from Brent at Evergreen Gardenworks in 2013; 2 3/4″ pots, and they were about 3″ tall, toothpick-thick trunks:

They went in the ground that spring and remained there for two years, unpruned. In March 2015, everything was dug and these quince were potted. The one in a Bigei pot was wired to be grown as a single-trunk:

I shortened the left branch to prevent it from thickening too much.

The single trunk was wired to continue some movement:

The right branch is a sacrifice branch, and this small shoot will ultimately replace it as the first right branch:
