Fall Cleanup of a JBP

This pine was candle-pruned in July and the new shoots are opening up. I had a little time to pluck old needles, and remove moss growing on the soil surface. It needs to be trimmed and new shoots will be wired later.

Last year’s long needles are obvious among new, short growth.
Moss growing well….too well
Work complete for now.

Next up, light pruning and a little wire. Since the new needles are still hardening off, I’ll wait just a bit longer on this step.

The pot? Gyouzan, Yuuji.
